Welcome To Wilson! (Sept. 5)
Grade 6 students begin classes today and can proceed directly to their homeroom (6A - Room 106, 6B Room 104)! We will kick off the school year with icebreaker activities and becoming familiar with the schedule and building.
Volleyball ID Camps (Sept. 5-12)
No School - Grade 6 Students (Sept. 6)
Due to staggered entry of the grade levels, only the 7's & 8's will attend today. See you on Thursday!
Wilson Parent Night - Meet The Teachers (Sept. 7)
Wilson Middle School will hold its Meet the Staff Night from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the gym. Come check out your child's learning spaces and find out more information about what to expect this school year.
Picture Day (Sept. 14)
Remember to get ready for pictures as these will be printed in the yearbook even if you are not ordering any additional photos!
Terry Fox Run (Sept. 15)
Wilson Middle School will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Run/Walk on September 15th! We will have a Toonies for Terry jar in our classroom with all donations going towards cancer research. We will be collecting donations up until the day of the walk!

Orange Shirt Day (Sept. 29)
In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, please wear an orange shirt to create awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools.

Live Different Assembly (Oct. 10)
Wilson has once again welcomed back a Live Different Presentation who state this as their philosophy: "We are about change. We are about hope. We are about the continual dream and reality of making a positive difference in the world around us. We believe that together, we really can make a difference!"
Fundraiser Wrap Up (Oct. 11)
Thank you to everyone who pitched in to support Wilson's Big Box of Cards Fundraiser this year!! If you have not already done so, please ensure your child has returned their forms and sample box to either Mr. DeMartini or Mrs. Hood!

Parent - Teacher Interviews (Oct. 26 & 27)
No school for students these days, as we conduct parent teacher interviews. We encourage you to sign up for a time slot to discuss your child's academic progress and transition into middle school. Mr. DeMartini & Mrs. Hood would love to see as many parents as possible schedule a 15 minute interview at your convenience by either calling the office or going to https://wilson.schoolsoft.ca/login.jsf If you would like to meet with us, and are unable to make an available time, please email and we'd be happy to set up an alternate meeting. Stay tuned for an update on when the conference manager will open up for parents to begin booking!
Halloween Party (Oct. 31)
We will be enjoying a popcorn party to award the students for excellent behaviour and effort throughout the first couple of months. Students will be provided with popcorn and a refreshment, and will spend 2 periods watching a G/PG-Rated movie. Your child is allowed to bring an additional snack, however this is not necessary. Since it is also Halloween, your child is welcome to wear a costume to school, but please keep in mind we have a school rule of no full face masks or weapons.

There is always a place on either our senior, junior, or club teams for all students who wish to play basketball this year. Athletes are invited to come tryout during the following time slots:

End of Term 1 Assignments & Awards (Dec. 1)
Hard copy report cards will not be distributed at the end of the term - parents are encouraged to check PowerSchool on a consistent basis, as this is live reporting of your child's grades. Any outstanding assignments must be submitted no later than Dec. 1st if students which to receive credit!

Grade 6 Movie Mill Field Trip - "PJ Movie Day" (Dec. 20)
All Grade 6 classes will be going to The Movie Mill this morning (wearing pajamas!) to view a screening of Percy Jackson & The Olympians - The Lightning Thief as a culminating activity to our novel study. The parent information form is attached below!

Agora Day 2023 (Dec. 22)
As an end to Unit 2 in social studies, the grade 6 students get to participate in a "marketmall" that has been named - Agora Day - in tribute to our social studies unit on Ancient Athens. Each student is responsible for coming up with a shop idea - and will be selling a product/service in exchange for Wilson Bucks. A business plan overview is attached below, which all students must fill out and return to their homeroom teacher.

Parent Teacher Interviews (Feb. 1 & 2)
We encourage you to sign up for parent-teacher interviews to discuss your child's academic progress. The portal for bookings is now open. Click the button below to register. Thursday interviews begin after school at 4pm - 8pm and there is NO SCHOOL on Friday with interviews happening 8am-12pm.
Valentine's Day (Feb. 14)
We will be celebrating LOVE DAY! with an optional valentine/treat exchange and party during our normal social period today! Mrs. Hood will email a class list home for all students who wish to participate.
Family Break (Feb. 17 - 25)
Due to Family Day and Teacher's Convention, students will have NO SCHOOL this week! Have a fun and safe break!

Green Shirt Day (Apr. 9)
Green Shirt Day is being presented by Canadian Blood Services, in partnership with Canada’s organ and tissue donation community and the Canadian Transplant Association, a non-profit, community resource partner for post-transplant recipients, donors, and donor families. The day is also in memoriam of Logan Boulet and all the victims and survivors of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash. The day is to raise awareness around organ donation and encourage donors to have important conversations with their loved ones. Wilson will recognize Green Shirt Day on April 9!
